Are you a  zoologist or an amateur naturalist?  We're looking for researchers working with endangered or elusive species to trial FIT for us in different ecosystems and substrates.  If you are using camera-traps, or other non-invasive techniques, we are particularly interested in working with you to develop further ways of integrating FIT into existing strategies.

Our involvement with fieldwork can be tailored to the needs of each participating project.  Most of our current project partners collect their own footprint images, and use WildTrack as a consulting and data processing service.  However, we need to work closely with participating projects until FIT has been satisfactorily tested on site.  At this point, projects may prefer to do their own data processing and we can then help assess the feasibility and assist with technology transfer.  Each project has unique requirements and we adapt FIT to the species, terrain and resources of the project, to ensure that it can be integrated seamlessly into the project logistics.

WildTrack aims to be fully self-supporting, providing a free consultancy and data processing service to participating projects.  We are attracting funding from conservation organisations, government bodies and business/industry in the private sector with interests in technology and conservation.  Funding will provide not only for the consultancy service and data processing required, but also for essential field equipment field projects require to carry out the work in situ.

In order to evaluate the likelihood of success for FIT for different projects, we request the following information:

1. A short proposal containing background information about your site, project, staff and participants

2. For which species is FIT being considered and how is current monitoring being conducted?

3. A description of substrate types, vegetation cover and climate especially rainfall pattern

4. How many animals are individually recognisable at the site; approximate age and sex is useful

5. Any other information which the proposer considers relevant to the collection of footprints or monitoring.
