Karolyn Upham, an M.Sc. student at the University of Exeter in Tremough, Cornwall, UK, visited the Sikhote-Alin State Biosphere Zapovednik (Reserve-IUCN Category 1) and Lazovsky State Biosphere Zapovednik in Primorskii Krai (Province), Russia in Spring 2009 and collected prints from 5 Amur tigers with the aim of developing an algorithm for this species using the footprint identification technique and investigating the influence of different substrate types on footprint accessibility.
